BAG and Landcare have joined forces to host a Mitchell & District Rural Forum, planning for a changing climate. High profile guest speakers have been secured to ensure an informative and thought provoking day of information sharing. Topics include succession planning, climate change, financial planning and The Great Idea Bank! Incorporated into the day will be Climate Change Roundtable including presentations from participants in the Women Leading Change program. There will be lots of giveaways on the day, and smokos and lunch are included. There is no charge to attend with the day made possible by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry – Recognising Women Farmers grants program, Mitchell & District Landcare Association, Booringa Action Group and Queensland Rural Industry Training Council. Wednesday, 18 November 2009; 9.00 am to 5.00 pm at the Mitchell Bowls Club. Please come along and support this initiative.

The Business Breakfast held recently was a very successful morning for all involved. It was good to meet Tim Cornell, the new Regional Economic Development Co-ordinator. I met with Tim after the breakfast and he offered his support for some of the business ideas BAG is currently facilitating.

Booringa Action Group, with support from council and local businesses, are running a shop local campaign in the lead up to Christmas 2009. The purpose of this campaign is to motivate residents, workers, community and sporting groups to spend money locally. This in turn will have following results:
• Local employment stability and / or employment generation
• Reduction in carbon footprints
• Reduced leakages from out of the Mitchell economy
• Increased economic multiplier effect
• Enhanced community spirit.
Look out for more information coming soon and thank you for your continued support of local businesses.
