Maranoa River Bridge - Construction of a new bridge over the Maranoa River at Mitchell has been fast-tracked with work expected to start before the end of the year. The river crossing - a critical link to Mitchell and south-western communities as well as the livestock and transport industries - will be built around a year ahead of schedule after the existing structure was damaged by flooding. The bridge was scheduled for replacement by June 2014 as part of the Department’s commitment to extend Type 2 road train access on the Warrego Highway from Mitchell to west of Roma. The new bridge will align with Mitchell’s main street, and be constructed downstream of the existing bridge. The existing bridge will remain single lane under speed restrictions for now. Pedestrian access across the Maranoa River will be provided as part of the new bridge.

Until next time! :)
Cheers,
Sharyn.
