Update - 10 December 2009

BAG NEWS ….

We have been successful in securing funds from the Maranoa Regional Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) to employ a local artist to make our noticeboards beautiful and to make the job of updating the calendar of evens easier!!

The Rural Forum incorporating a Climate Change Roundtable held recently provided an opportunity for the 7 participants in the Women Leading Change Program to learn more about the possible impacts of Climate Change as well as deliver some very inspiring and entertaining presentations on their individual business projects. Each participant has set up a blog to record their thoughts and achievements as they develop their projects over the next few months. Please feel free to have a look at these and leave your comments.

We have also been advised of our success in securing funds to update the tables and chairs at the BAG cottage.

As you hopefully have noticed, Booringa Action Group, with support from council and local businesses, is running a shop local campaign in the lead up to Christmas 2009. The impact of re-thinking purchasing decisions and choosing to buy locally provides a significant impact on the local economy and local employment.

For every $10 spent at participating stores, shoppers will be entitled to a voucher to place in an entry box to enter the draw for $1400 worth of local shopping vouchers. At the point of sale, shoppers can complete and lodge an entry form. There is no limit to the amount of entries you can have. The competition will run from
Tuesday 17 November 2009 until close of business on Tuesday 15 December 2009.

The prize draw will take place at 7.30 pm on the evening of the Christmas late night shopping celebrations on Wednesday, 16 December 2009. For the late night shopping evening we have Santa, lots of activities for the whole family, especially the children who will be entertained with local businesses offering child friendly activity stations. The winner of the $1400 worth of local shopping vouchers must be present at the draw to claim their prize. See you there!!
