BAG NEWS ….

The 2010 Booringa Business Calendars have been printed and are ready for distribution! Thanks to all businesses who support this local initiative.

Women Leading Change, a Women in Rural Communities Leadership Development Program and Climate Change Roundtable – applications now open! Any local women who have a new business idea that they would like to develop with support from this program are encouraged to contact me for more information.

BAG PROJECT UPDATES ………

Community walk – We will be doing our next walk this weekend, Sunday 1 November 2009 beginning at 4.00 pm. We will be doing the river walk from Fisherman’s Rest to the Weir. We will meet at the Weir (Rotary Park) to be ferried to Fisherman’s Rest. A free BBQ will be available at the end.

Dentist – After some delays, latest news is that our private dentist is hoping to start in January 2010!!!


GENERAL COMMUNITY INFORMATION ………

‘Panadol for Grant Writing’ - Take the headache out of the application! You are invited to attend a Grant writing workshop on Tuesday, 24 November 2009 at the Mitchell Shire Hall between 5.30pm – 7.30pm. Topics include: The six steps in planning your project; How to identify project partners; Gathering support for your project; How do I determine if a grant is suitable for my project; What needs to be included in my application; The Do’s and Don’ts of applications; What is expected when you receive your grant; Understanding the language – What does it all mean. The workshop would be of particular interest to community groups, school P & C’s, not for profit, charities and sporting groups. It is open to anyone that is interested in learning about applying for grants. Bookings: All participants will need to book and pay prior to the workshop. Bookings can be made at any Council Administration Centre through the Customer Service desk. Cost - $10.00 (to cover light refreshments and information folder).
