Update - 20 July 2011

BAG NEWS ….

The Annual General Meeting of Booringa Action Group (BAG) will be held on Saturday 20 August 2011 from 5 to 5.30 pm in the Mitchell Library. This will be an opportunity to showcase BAG's achievements for the past year and plans for the coming year. Members & non-members are most welcome to attend. For something different this year, we are combining our AGM with a fundraising function for the Maranoa Retirement Village! Please come along and support ‘For Old Time’s Sake’ - Art Auction & Gala Evening at the Mitchell on Maranoa Gallery. Doors open 5pm, auction starts 6pm. There will be live entertainment, a bar operating and hot food available. A $10 entry includes complimentary drink and nibbles. Please support this good cause, and feel free to come a bit earlier for the BAG AGM. To assist with planning and catering, please RSVP to me by 12 August 2011 – phone 4623 7814 or email bag.eo@bigpond.com

BAG Management Committee – Nominations our now open for the BAG Management Committee. If you are interested in helping shape the future direction of BAG and our community, please contact me for a nomination form. As a member of the BAG Management Committee, you will need to attend meetings once a month, at a day and time to be determined by the new committee. It is a very interesting and challenging position, which I would recommend for those interested in our community’s long term development and livability.

BAG PROJECT UPDATES ………

Child Care Centre – Terri-Anne Goodreid has been employed by Save the Children as a consultant for the Mitchell Anduna Kindy Project. Terri-Anne would like to extend an invitation to interested community members to attend an informal luncheon at 1pm on Friday 5 August at the Great Artesian Spa Complex. This will be an information gathering exercise, communicating and networking around the support needs for children and their families in our community.

GENERAL COMMUNITY INFORMATION ………

Mark McArdle MP LNP Shadow Minister for Health will be in Mitchell tomorrow, Thursday 21 July 2011. Howard Hobbs is hosting a light lunch with Mark McArdle from 12 noon at the Mitchell Bowls Club and would welcome any members of the community who would like to come along and discuss any issues of concern they may have with the Retirement Village or any other issues in Mitchell or the surrounding district.

Until next time! :)

Cheers,
Sharyn.
